Project Description:
The Santa Rosa Island Range Road project involved rebuilding a 13.1-mile road located on a barrier island in northwest Florida. The road is located on Eglin Air Force Base. The road had been destroyed from hurricanes Ivan and Katrina. C.W. Robertshad to design a road to withstand the impacts of a Catergory 3 hurricane. They designed and installed approximately 8 miles of sheet pile to armor the roadway. There were numerous cultural and natural resource sensitive areas throughout the project that had to be protected.
