How HCSS Software assisted with this project
HCSS HeavyBid was crucial in the bidding process and vital to the successful acquisition of this project. HeavyBid is set up to allow Mahan to bid unit price bid work and is ideally designed for heavy highway and DOT pursuits. Its ability to allow Mahan to set up subcontractors and enter material quotes is unmatched and is truly the best estimating package on the market for heavy highway and DOT pursuits.
C.J. Mahan Construction Company is working as a subcontractor on design-build structures being constructed for the Virginia Department of Transportation US 460 Connector.
The signature bridge features a 1727-foot by 10-foot twin cast-in-place segmental structure with trapezoidal box superstructure; segmental spans of 268.5 feet, 489 feet, 489 feet, and 268.5 feet; two precast concrete girders with spans of 110 feet and 103 feet, and unique H-shaped pier columns with heights in excess of 200 feet. Concrete is being produced on-site with a Mahan-owned-and-operated dry-mix batch plant. When complete in 2015, it will be the tallest bridge in the state of Virginia.
